The 'Other' Issues

Believe it or not I realize that there are political issues besides Marijuana:

Accessible Education- University tuition fees at least back to 1990 levels (2500 in today dollars rather then 5000). Similar reduction if not elimination of college fees. Work towards universal education and fight any loan based approach to fixing to education such as the Income Contingent Repayment Loan schemes. (ICRLs)

Green Economy- Industrial Hemp is an amazing plant and must grow to play a major part in the textile, construction, pulp and paper, auto parts, foods and biomass fuel industries. Because of government fears of 'crop substitution' the industry faces heavy regulation and licensing. Bring the subsides hemp got in the 1920s so it can be part of our future sustainable economy.

Bring The Troops Home- As per a 2002 Senate recommendation- all Canadian troops should be returned home from overseas so we can rebuild our armed forces rather then patching it up every other month. Out of NATO- The Cold War was over 15 years ago we don’t need to be part of a American dominated military alliance ‘defending’ Europe from Soviet tank divisions that aren’t there. Before taking military action to defend our artic, launch circumpolar negotiations with all nations on the Artic Circle to settle border disputes.

Living Wage- Minimum Wage should be raised to 10 dollars an hour so that the lowest possible wage is above the poverty line. Fight any union breaking 'labour laws' put forth by the Con/Libs like their pro-scab legislation.

Proportional Representation- is necessary to distribute parliamentary power more evenly- no longer should 38% of the vote get you 100% of the power. Change the unaccountable party system where leaders can make decisions over the heads of their membership.
